The requirements and qualifications for NIA recruitment is segmented into two (2) categories which re position based and general.

General Requirements

  • You must be a Kenyan citizen.
  • A valid government issued identity document is required e.g. National ID, Passport or Driver’s license etc.
  • It is important you have the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum of D+ (plus) mean grade including English and Kiswahili languages.
  • According to chapter 6 of the constitution, it is important you present relevant clearance certificates including KRA Pin, and valid certificate of good conduct etc.

Position based requirements and qualifications are as follows.

Monitoring and Evaluation Management

  • Candidates applying for this role must have a degree either in Economics, Statistics, Project planning and management or other relevant discipline.
  • Your certification must be from a recognized institution in Kenya or abroad.
  • Those who have a certificate or diploma in project planning/management stand a better chance.
  • Only candidates within the age bracket for 25 to 35 years are allowed to apply for this role.

Director/Chief Engineer

  • You need both Bachelor and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-System Engineering etc.
  • A total of twenty years of experience in Irrigation and Drainage is required for this post.
  • You should be a member of relevant engineering professional body e.g. Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
  • A leadership course of not less than six (6) weeks is as well required.

Civil Engineering Trainee

  • This role demands a bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineering, Agricultural or Bio Systems Engineering from an established and approved university.
